ODAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 5

Nationally 10th-ranked Washington and Lee played just once last week, but it was a big one with the Generals claiming a 13-12 road win in overtime at then fifth-ranked (now No. 6) York College (Pa.). That improved the Generals record to 6-2 overall, just one win shy of Lynchburg's (7-1) ODAC top mark. Randolph-Macon is also 6-2, while Shenandoah is 5-2. Six of the ODAC's 11 teams have better than .500 winning percentages.

  • HANNAH RUSSELL | WASHINGTON AND LEE | DEFENSE
Russell, a sophomore from Danville, Calif., contributed on both ends of the field in nationally 10th-ranked Washington and Lee's 13-12 overtime victory at then No. 5 York College (Pa.). Russell helped clamp down the Spartans' offense with a pair of caused turnovers and a ground ball. She also scored on a fast-break off a good Washington and Lee clear as the first goal of the second half for an 8-5 WLU advantage. That marked her first collegiate goal scored. For the season, Russell has caused four turnovers and picked up 10 ground balls with a pair of draw controls and Saturday's goal.

  • HANNAH VAN SON | WASHINGTON AND LEE | ATTACK
Van Son, a junior from Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., was both prolific and clutch in helping nationally 10th-ranked Washington and Lee to a 13-12 overtime victory at then No. 5 York College (Pa.) on Saturday. Van Son registered game-highs of six goals and eight draw controls to go with a caused turnover. Her final two draw controls gave WLU possession on the way to the Generals' last two goals. Van Son scored their 11th tally, while Lara Baki came through with the game-tying marker that forced extra time. That period lasted just 1:33 as Van Son scored the winner with 4:27 on the clock to clinch the Generals' victory. For the season, Van Son has racked up 28 points on 24 goals and four assists.
