ODAC Baseball Report: Week 6

We all know how good ODAC baseball is. The national pundits have taken notice with five squads – Lynchburg (3rd), Shenandoah (7th), Bridgewater (14th), Roanoke (24th), and Randolph-Macon (25) – ranked by D3baseball.com. For the first time this season, the majority of ODAC baseball games were conference outings with 15 of the 22 contests featuring a pair of league foes. Lynchburg is out of the gates strong at 6-0-1 in ODAC play and 15-3-1 overall. Randolph-Macon is 5-2 (11-5) and Roanoke sits 4-2 (15-4). Washington and Lee (6-3-1) joins Lynchburg with the most wins in conference play. Overall, league teams have won no fewer than six games with eight in double figures and each of those at .500 or better.

  • LOGAN TAPMAN | LYNCHBURG | SP
Tapman, a senior from Berlin, Md., faced four batters over the minimum in registering a no-hitter in a seven-inning shortened complete game win, 11-0, over Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday. Tapman walked two batters with two Hornets' errors accounting for the other two baserunners. Tapman set a new career-high with 13 strikeouts, his first collegiate game with double figures for punchouts. Seven of the first nine outs he recorded came via strikeout as he struck out the side in the first and did the same in the second after the first two batters reached via error and walk. His second free pass came with one down in the fourth. He then retired the next 11 batters in a row to close the game. For the season, Tapman is 4-0 with 3.38 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 29.1 innings of work.
