JEREMIAH MARKS | AVERETT | DEFENSIVE BACK
Marks, a junior from Norfolk, Va., became the first player in Averett football program history to intercept three passes in the Cougars 55-19 win over former ODAC member Gallaudet University on Saturday in Danville. Marks, who also made three tackles (2 solo), is the first ODAC player to pick off three passes since former Randolph-Macon standout Brandon Evans achieved the feat in the Yellow Jackets' 46-0 shutout of Ithaca College in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Football Championship. Marks picked off his first pass in the opening quarter to set up the Cougars' second touchdown. He hauled in a pass off the intended receiver's hands at the GU 41-yard line and returned it 24 yards to the Bison 17. AU made it 14-0 two plays later. Marks' second takeaway was nearly the longest play of the game. Just before halftime, Marks corralled a pass just over the intended receiver at the AU 18-yard line. He weaved the far sideline 82-yards to paydirt, but a block in the back penalty wiped the touchdown off the board. Marks registered his third interception with 11:18 to go in the fourth quarter. With the Bison threatening on the AU 6-yard line, the Cougars' pass rush hit the GU quarterback as he was throwing for the end zone. Marks elevated and pulled in the floating ball with one-hand while going to the ground at the 2-yard line. For the season, Marks has registered 13 tackles (7 solo) with Saturday's three interceptions in addition to three pass breakups.

TERRY HICKS | HAMPDEN-SYDNEY | RUNNING BACK
Terry Hicks, senior from Clayton, N.C., was the high-revving engine behind Hampden-Sydney's offense on Saturday as he ran for the third-most yards in ODAC history to help the Tigers post a 43-41 come-from-behind victory at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. Hicks carried the ball a career-high 36 times for 317 yards as only the fourth player in conference history to crack 300 yards on the ground. His effort on Saturday marks the most rushing yards in Division III this season. Hicks' 317-yard output ranks behind former Emory & Henry College (now University) standout Grayson Overstreet's 324 yard league record against Ferrum College in 2019 and the 321 yards posted by former Shenandoah University star Cedrick Delaney against E&H in 2014. The remaining ODAC back to eclipse 300 yards rushing was former E&H ball-carrier Oliver Jordan, who posted 310 yards against Greensboro College in 1998. Hicks was far from just a grinder against UNE as he averaged 8.8 yards per carry with 12 rushes covering 10 or more yards powered by a trio of 30-plus yard efforts. He found the end zone for the first time this season, scoring from seven yards out to extend H-SC's lead to 22-14 late in the second quarter. For the season, the 2025 ODAC rushing yards leader is again atop the league list with 528 yards on 75 carries through the first three games. He is averaging 176.0 yards per game.

WILL FOLEY | HAMPDEN-SYDNEY | RETURNER
Foley, a sophomore from Virginia Beach, Va., helped give Hampden-Sydney's offense short fields to work thanks to a strong day returning kickoffs in the Tigers 43-41 come-from-behind victory at the University of New England on Saturday. Foley returned five kickoffs for 153 yards (30.6/return) with three sprints over 30 yards. His first return may have only gone for 15 yards to the 28-yard line, but it led to a Tigers' score. Foley returned another kick in the first quarter, taking that one 37 yards to the H-SC 48-yard line before yet another Tigers' touchdown. He had two more returns in the second quarter, one for 19 yards to the 28-yard line and his last one just before the half went for 40 yards to the UNE 48-yard line to give H-SC a shot at adding points just before halftime. Foley registered his best return to begin the second half, returning the opening kickoff 42 yards to midfield that eventually led to another H-SC touchdown. For the season, Foley is averaging 25.0 on 13 returns covering 325 yards.

• GENERAL NOTES
  • ODAC teams went 3-2 against non-conference foes with three squads on their scheduled byes; those idle on during Week 3 will play their final non-conference games in Week 4 with those that played in Week 3 idle for Week 4 ahead of the beginning of ODAC play for all league members in Week 5.
  • ODAC teams outscored their opponents, 194-165, averaging 38.8 points per game with an average margin of victories in their three wins of 22.0 points.
  • Averett won for a second straight game on Saturday, marking the Cougars' first back-to-back victories since starting the 2023 season with triumphs over N.C. Wesleyan and Greensboro in 2024.
  • Hampden-Sydney and New England combined for 811 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
• OFFENSE
  • Averett quarterbacks Brandon Saunders (10-of-13, 153, 2), Perry Cole (1-of-2, 75, 1), and Kadin Thomas (2-of-2, 20, 1) combined to throw for 248 yards and 4 TDs; Debvrin Smith ran for 124 yards and a score with Tyrek Samuel adding 64 yards and 2 TDs; Tre'Sean Suber caught four passes for 141 yards and 2 TDs.
  • Hampden-Sydney racked up 503 yards of total offense powered by 359 on the ground. Running back Terry Hicks accounted for 317 of those yards, the 3rd-best rushing day in ODAC history and the most in a single-game in Division III this season by 61 yards. Quarterback Connor Creech threw for 144 yards and a score while adding three rushing TDs; Xavier Howard-Morris scored the Tigers' final TD via a 26-yard run; Tyler Hendley caught six passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
  • Randolph-Macon quarterback Jake Mulhern may have only thrown 11 passes, but he completed 10 of them for 274 yards and three touchdowns; He also had a rushing score while Mitchell Johnson led with 51 yards on 10 carries; Malakiah Moore, Basit Qadri, and Quinten Jones had caught long TD passes with scoring plays of 75, 63 yards, and 57 yards, respectively.
  • Shenandoah quarterback Mekhi Brown led a furious comeback attempt by SU after trailing 27-0 early as he threw for a career-high 414 yards with four TDs and two more rushing; he completed 35-of-57 passes; four different receivers caught seven passes – Caleb Weston (7 for 95, 2 TDs), Cooper Minnix (7 for 87), Will Yoder (7 for 78, 1 TD), Aidan McCloskey (7 for 52); Jackson McFarland caught the remaining TD pass.
  • Washington and Lee ran for 251 yards led by 80 yards and a score by Ryan Clemens; quarterback Ty Collins ran for 63 yards, while Anthony Crawford added 49 and a TD and Marc Geffrard notched 46 yards; Teddy Sparrow caught four passes for 65 yards.
• DEFENSE
  • Averett's defense forced five turnovers and was on the field for nearly 40 minutes against Gallaudet; defensive back Jeremiah Marks became the first Cougar in program history to intercept three passes; he returned one 82 yards for a TD, but it was called back by an illegal block penalty; Kori Moates also intercepted a pass, returning it 36 yards, while Grayson Patterson forced a fumble that Moates recovered; Chaz Penwright led with nine tackles, while Jermaine Capel posted 2.5 TFLs including a sack.
  • Hampden-Sydney safety Will Bostwick led all ODAC players in Week 3 with 16 tackles, while Frank Brewer had 15 including a TFL; Braden Lyons had a strip-sack with Matthew Wright recovering the fumble that eventually led to a H-SC touchdown.
  • Randolph-Macon linebacker Jackson Hall led RMC with 11 stops while defensive back Quentin Mankin made eight tackles and intercepted his second pass of the season; Mikey Barber added a second INT for RMC's defense.
  • Shenandoah defensive back Jaren Mitchell led with eight tackles a fumble recovery; edge Ryan Apietu registered a sack to give him 2.5 on the season; linebacker Steven Jones and safety Kamran Mosley intercepted passes, while defensive lineman Devin Keasey forced and recovered the resulting fumble.
  • Washington and Lee linebacker Brennan Stout led with nine tackles to give him an ODAC-best 42 stops on the season; Randolph Smith notched a quarterback sack.
• SPECIAL TEAMS
  • Averett kicker Michael Markulic was 7-for-8 on PATs with the miss due to a bad snap; only the 4th time in AU history that a kicker has made 7 PATS in a game.
  • Hampden-Sydney returner Will Foley averaged 30.6 yards on five kick returns including three over 30 yards and three that led to H-SC touchdowns.
  • Randolph-Macon punter Jordan Etz  put three punts inside the 20-yard line with one downed at the Maryville 1-yard line.
  • Shenandoah punter Connor Moyssiadis punted six times for a 33.0 average with a long of 51.
  • Washington and Lee punter Fulton Weaver kicked three times for a 36.7 average with a long of 46.
