ODAC Men's Soccer Report: Week 9

ODAC men's soccer fans will be on pins and needles Wednesday evening as they wait for the last six games of the conference season to finish ahead of the announcement of the ODAC tournament bracket. Nationally 23rd-ranked Lynchburg and Virginia Wesleyan each won twice over the past week, leaving the Hornets perched atop the table with 21 points (7-1-0) and the Marlins within striking distance of a top-four finish on 15 points (5-3-0). Washington and Lee (6-1-1) and Bridgewater (6-1-1) both went 1-1 with the Eagles picking up a victory over No. 22 Hampden-Sydney, which sits fourth on 17 points (5-1-2), two markers shy of WLU and BC.

  • RYAN McADAMS | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | WINGBACK
McAdams, a senior from Colonial Heights, Va., collects his second ODAC weekly honor of the season after helping Virginia Wesleyan earn a pair of ODAC victories by scoring a pair of game-winning goals as well as contributing to the Marlins' sixth clean sheet of the year. In a 3-2 win at Bridgewater on Wednesday, McAdams put VWU ahead, 3-1, in the 80th minute off a double-assist from Mason Wakefield and Gio Zizza. The Eagles scored less than a minute later, making McAdams' tally the game-decider. On Saturday, the Marlins right-wingback helped the defense limit Roanoke to just five shots on-goal in addition to scoring the game's only goal in the 30th-minute for a 1-0 triumph. For the season, McAdams – who also spends time as a forward – is tied for fifth in the ODAC in goals scored (6) and tied for 11th in points (12).

  • TREY WIDRICK | BRIDGEWATER | FORWARD
Widrick, a junior from Cary, N.C., continued his stellar season with a third ODAC weekly award after contributing to all three of Bridgewater's goals in a 1-1 week against ODAC competition. On Wednesday in a 3-2 home loss to Virginia Wesleyan, Widrick assisted Anthony Eugenio on the game's first goal in the 15th minute. Widrick then pulled BC to within one goal at 3-2 at the 80:29 mark, responding just 1:04 after the Marlins tallied their third goal. On Saturday, Bridgewater earned a 1-0 victory at nationally 22nd-ranked Hampden-Sydney with Widrick scoring the game's only goal in the 39th minute. For the season, Widrick leads the ODAC in both points (28) and goals scored (11), just one tally ahead of teammate Riley Queen as the highest scoring duo in the conference.

    • Bridgewater keeper Zane Kowalski made five saves each in a 3-2 loss to Virginia Wesleyan and a 1-0 victory at No. 22 Hampden-Sydney.
    • Guilford midfielder Isaac Garbia scored the first goal in a 3-0 win over EMU for the Quakers first ODAC win since 2022.
    • Hampden-Sydney midfielder Mason Dudley scored the go-ahead goal in the Tigers 4-2 comeback win at EMU.
    • Lynchburg center back William Casey scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win at Roanoke and helped anchor a Hornets' defense that also shut out Washington and Lee, 2-0.
    • Randolph-Macon keeper Ethan Chenoweth made four saves in a 2-0 win over Shenandoah and three stops in a 1-1 draw at Randolph.
