ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 3

ODAC men's basketball programs continued their dominance in non-conference action, going 14-6 overall. Bridgewater, No. 17 Hampden-Sydney, Randolph, Shenandoah, and Washington and Lee each won twice. SU and WLU are both 4-0 along with No. 2 Randolph-Macon, which was idle over the past week. H-SC and No. 10 Roanoke are 4-1.

  • JAMARCUS BROWN | LYNCHBURG | FORWARD
    Brown, a sophomore from Danville, Va., collects his first ODAC weekly honor of the season after helping Lynchburg to a 1-1 week, leaving the Hornets at 3-3 over the first three weeks of the campaign. Brown registered six blocked shots and three steals with 10 of his 16 rebounds coming via the defensive glass over the two outings at the Chatham University Classic. In a 74-60 win over Geneva, Brown blocked three shots and came away with three steals. He notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds (5 defensive). He was 7-of-17 from the field and 4-of-4 from the line. In a 77-74 loss to the host Cougars, Brown again rejected three shots to go with 15 points and six rebounds (5 defensive). He was 6-of-9 from the field and added an assist. For the season, Brown is second in the ODAC in blocked shots (10) and blocked shots per game (1.7). He is fourth in rebounding (7.5) and eighth in scoring (18.3).

  • ELLIS WRIGHT | SHENANDOAH | FORWARD
    Wright, a sophomore from Suffolk, Va., collects his first ODAC weekly honor after twice resetting his career-high for scoring in leading Shenandoah to a 2-0 week. The Hornets are now 4-0 on the season. Wright opened the week by dropping 26 points on St. Mary's College of Maryland in SU's 74-65 victory on Monday. He was 10-of-12 from the field including 3-of-5 from deep. He chipped in three rebounds, an assist, and two steals. On Wednesday, Ellis took over the No. 1 spot on the ODAC scoring chart with a 35-point explosion in a 74-61 win at Messiah University. He was 13-of-21 from the field and buried 7-of-12 from downtown. He added four boards, a steal, and two blocked shots to his line. For the season, Wright leads the ODAC in scoring (25.5) and is second in points scored (102). He is third in field goals made (40), fourth in three-pointers made (12), fifth in three-point shooting (.429), and seventh in field goal shooting (.615).

    • Averett forward Zach Skogen notched 3 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals, while guard Timayahs Bracey registered 16 points and 2 assists in a 62-61 win vs. Apprentice.
    • EMU guard Aaron Brooks averaged 16.0 points and 3.0 rebounds with 13 assists and 6 steals in the Royals' 1-2 week.
    • Guilford guard Gabe Proctor poured in 24 points with 3 boards and 2 assists in a 103-97 loss to No. 3 Emory. Guard Braylen Salters posted 21 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals.
    • Hampden-Sydney forward Alex Cannon averaged 5.5 points and 10.0 rebounds with 2 assists and 5 blocked shots in the No. 17 Tigers' 2-0 week. Guard Santana Lynch averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds with 3 steals.
    • Lynchburg forward Jayson Easton averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Hornets' 1-1 week.
    • Randolph guard Steven Burgess Jr. averaged 16.0 points with 5 assists and 2 steals in the WildCats' 2-0 week. Forward Trey Miller averaged a double-double at 11.0 points and 11.0 rebounds with 4 assists and 2 steals.
    • Roanoke guard Marcus Bell averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds with 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocked shots in the No. 10 Maroons' 1-1 week.
    • Washington and Lee guard Colin Ryan averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds with 10 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocked shots in the Generals' 2-0 week. Forward Connor Amorosi averaged 20.0 points and 3.0 rebounds with 2 assists.
