ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 10

Full conference play has started with all 12 games – 11 plus games – featuring at ODAC contests. Condensation on the floor from inclement in Danville forced the suspension of the Averett-Virginia Wesleyan tilt on Saturday. But this was after both teams won during the midweek with AU pulling off a dramatic last second victory over No. 2 Randolph-Macon and the Marlins snapping Washington and Lee's four-game run to sit 3-0 in league play. RMC and Lynchburg are both 4-1 in conference games, while WLU and Hampden-Sydney are 3-1. The Yellow Jackets (12-1) and Generals (11-2) own the most wins in the ODAC.

  • JAMARCUS BROWN | LYNCHBURG | FORWARD
Brown, a sophomore from Danville, Va., helped Lynchburg return to the win column with two conference wins last week. Brown was strong all-around, averaging 17.5 points and 5.0 rebounds with four steals and a pair of blocked shots. In a 95-59 triumph at EMU, Brown notched 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting with four boards (2 defensive), an assist, three steals, and a pair of blocked shots in a stat-filling 29-minute shift. He posted 18 points in the Hornets' 78-65 victory over Shenandoah on Saturday, chipping in six rebounds (3 defensive) and a steal. For the season, Brown is fourth in the ODAC in scoring (18.5) and second in rebounding (7.9). He is second in blocked shots (23) and fifth in field goal shooting (.551; 103-of-187).

  • TIMAYAHS BRACEY | AVERETT | GUARD
Bracey, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., was key to Averett posting a 62-60 home win over nationally second-ranked Randolph-Macon, saddling the Yellow Jackets with their first loss of the season. Bracey tied for game-high honors with 17 points to go with a game-best six assists. He was 5-of-12 from the field and cashed in all five of his foul shots to go with two boards and a steal. His biggest contribution came in the clutch. With 0:08 to go, Bracey connected on the go-ahead three-pointer, hoisting the left-handed shot as time expired on the shot clock to give the Cougars a 61-60 edge. For the season, Bracey is averaging 13.3 points per game. He is third in the ODAC in foul shooting (.816; 31-of-38), fifth in three-point shooting (.375; 24-of-64), and seventh in assists (39) and assists to turnover ratio (1.5).
